MOF CHIEFS MIDSEASON CHECK-IN: THE PREDICTION IS ALREADY IN TROUBLE

Eight weeks into the MOF season, Coach Duran and the Kansas City Chiefs have done more than live up to the preseason hype — they’ve blown past it.

The original way-too-early prediction had Kansas City sitting 5-2 through Week 8, with losses to KnightNoles’ Seahawks in Week 7 and Mackdaddy’s Broncos in Week 8. Instead, the Chiefs have reached the end of Week 8 a perfect 7-0, turning two projected losses into statement wins.

Kansas City opened the season by taking care of Mackdaddy’s Broncos 35-25, then followed with wins over the Colts 38-28, Dolphins 45-27, and Raiders 41-3. After the Week 5 bye, the Chiefs beat the Chargers 20-14 before entering what was supposed to be the toughest stretch of the early season.

That’s when the preseason prediction fell apart.

In Week 7, Kansas City went on the road and defeated KnightNoles’ Seahawks 33-31, overcoming Duran’s previous 1-2 head-to-head record in the matchup. One week later, the Chiefs went back on the road and completed the season sweep of Mackdaddy with a 38-28 victory over Denver.

Instead of stumbling to 5-2, Kansas City is 7-0.

The Road Ahead

The next major test comes immediately in Week 9 against CanesBucs and the Jets. Duran entered the season just 3-10 all-time against CanesBucs, making this arguably the biggest remaining historical hurdle on the schedule.

After that, Kansas City's schedule features the Falcons, Cardinals, Bills, Rams, Bengals, Patriots, 49ers, Chargers and Raiders.

The preseason prediction called for a long winning streak through this portion of the schedule before a Week 16 loss to Latinyank77478 and the 49ers. But with the Chiefs already erasing two of their three projected losses, it's time to raise the expectations.
