MOF SEASON 85 DRAFT RECAP

Season 85 MOF Draft Recap: Recapping the latest MOF Player Draft, breaking down each teams grades, the top players per dvision, and the top overall team that drafted the best group of rookies for the season.

Welcome to the MOF Draft Recap. In this video, we break down the top four rookies drafted per division, including two honorable mentions. We also introduce a new scoring breakdown that allows us to deliver the most in-depth draft recap possible. Here is how it works:

MOF Draft Grades — Scoring Method (0–100)

Overview
Each team receives a Draft Grade on a 0–100 scale based on how strong their draft class looked at the time of the draft.
The model rewards:

  • Drafting higher overall talent
  • Selecting stronger development traits
  • Finding strong players later in the draft (value picks)
Important: This model uses Drafted OVR and Drafted DEV only (not current ratings), ensuring every team is evaluated strictly using draft-day information.

Step 1 — Player Scoring
Each drafted player receives a Player Score made up of three components:

A) Talent Score (60%)
  • Uses the player’s Drafted OVR as the base measure of talent
  • Drafted OVR is treated as a 0–100 value
  • Weight: 60% of the Player Score
B) Development Score (25%)
Uses the player’s Drafted DEV (development trait at the time they were drafted).
Drafted DEV is converted to a numeric score:
  • X-Factor = 100
  • Superstar = 90
  • Star = 80
  • Hidden = 75
  • Normal = 70
Weight: 25% of the Player Score.

C) Draft Value Bonus (15%)
  • Rewards teams for finding talent later in the draft
  • Later picks receive a higher bonus value
  • Formula: (Pick Number ÷ Max Pick Number in Draft) × 100
Weight: 15% of the Player Score.

Player Score Formula
Player Score = (0.60 × Drafted OVR) + (0.25 × DEV Score) + (0.15 × Value Bonus)

Step 2 — Team Draft Grade
  • All Player Scores for a team are averaged together
  • The resulting average becomes the team’s final Draft Grade (0–100)
Why This Model Works
  • Rewards real draft-day talent and upside (OVR + DEV)
  • Penalizes reach picks unless the player profile justified the selection
  • Rewards late-round steals and strong scouting
  • Uses only draft-time data for fairness and consistency
